Skyesports unveils Skyesports Championship 2024
Skyesports has officially unveiled the details for their upcoming Counter-Strike 2 event, the Skyesports Championship 2024. The LAN event will feature a total prize pool of $200,000 and will take place in India between July 23 - 28, 2024. The exact location in India hasn't been announced yet.
The main LAN event will have 8 teams battling it out, with five of those being directly invited teams. Amongst the five, four have been revealed as BetBoom, Eternal Fire, FURIA and TheMongolz. The fifth and final invited team is yet to be revealed while Aurora have also secured a spot at the event following their triumph at the Skyesports Masters 2024, which granted them a direct spot in the main event.
Apart from Aurora and the five invited teams, the other two slots will be filled up by teams coming through from the European and Indian Qualifiers. Dates and other details about the regional qualifiers haven't been announced yet.
Given the dates, it would mean that it will be back-to-back events for TheMongolz, who have qualified for the Esports World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia between July 17 - July 21, 2024.
The announcement of the latest edition of the Skyesports Championship comes after the last edition was cancelled, with an official announcement being made earlier this year. Skyesports founder Shiva Nandy stated that it was due to 'foreign political conditions' that led to the Skyesports Championship 5.0 being cancelled. The Skyesports Championship 5.0 was set to feature the likes of OG and Aurora amongst others.

The Skyesports Championship 2024 is set to be the tournament organiser's second CS2 LAN of the year, with the Skyesports Grand Slam 2024 being held in Pune, India earlier this year in March.
The Skyesports Masters 2024 was also supposed to be a LAN event in Mumbai but it was shifted to an online event at the eleventh hour with Skyesports stating as the Indian general elections as the reason for not being able to finalise a LAN venue amongst other difficulties.
The Skyesports Championship has been our premium IP which was founded in 2018 as a regional esports tournament in Chennai. Now, after five continuous editions, the tournament is back for its sixth year and is bigger than ever featuring the top teams from around the world in the Counter-Strike 2 esports tournament. Due to unfortunate circumstances, we couldn’t host the Skyesports Masters as a LAN in India. This time, however, we are thrilled to bring some of the world’s most distinguished Counter-Strike 2 teams to the Skyesports Championship 2024 Main Event.
