Niory go down fighting to ONi
While Niory started the first day of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR Closed Qualifier with a surprise win over True Rippers in the upper bracket quarter-final, they fell to the lower bracket after going down to Alter Ego in the upper bracket semi-final. Kicking things off on the second day of the Asia RMR Closed Qualifier, Niory went up against ONi in the elimination game.
The action kicked off on ONi's pick of Anubis with the Philippines team starting with a 3-0 lead on their T side. A strong T side from ONi saw them start with a 9-3 lead. Whis powered ONi to a 13-5 win, with a stellar CT half that saw Whis end the map with 24 kills. Niory replied back in style on Ancient as they kicked off their pick of Ancient with a 7-0 lead. Niory dropped just one T round in the opening half before closing out Ancient at 13-3.
The decider on Mirage saw clyd1e and Zumss help ONi start with an 8-4 lead on their T side. Niory bounced back on their T side to go on to tie up the score at 11-11. ONi held on in the final two rounds of regulation as they walked away with a 13-11 win to send Niory home and keep themselves alive in the Asia RMR Closed Qualifier.
ONi will now face True Rippers in the lower bracket final, which is scheduled to take place later on today. With Niory going home, its also the end of the road for two Indian players in BuNTz and N1kace.
