The MongolZ stun G2
The first match of the Elimination Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major saw Asian powerhouse The MongolZ take on G2 in a bo1. G2 were among the favorites to go 3-0 in this stage. The bo1 took us to Inferno where The MongolZ started on the T-side with a pistol round loss.
However, mzhino and Techno went berserk with their Tec9s to close out a 2v5, stealing the anti-eco. Before G2's economy could recover, The MongolZ put up a few gun rounds, building a small 4-1 lead. G2's CT-side could do very little from that point onwards as The MongolZ secured an 8-4 half in their favor.
The narrative flipped in the second half as it was G2 who conceded the pistol and stole the anti-eco, off of which they closed in on The MongolZ's lead. bLitz stepped up big time, leading the charge on the CT-side with a 105 ADR as The MongolZ closed out Inferno 13-10, sending G2 down to the 0-1 pool as their unbeaten run at the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major continues.
