XigN announces break from Counter-Strike

South Korean star ready for military service

South Korean Counter-Strike star Hyun-Pyo 'XigN' Lee, who recently held the role of IGL for Alter Ego has announced that he will be taking a break from competitive Counter-Strike as he will be starting his mandatory military service for his country. XigN did mention that he will be looking to comeback stronger and although he is yet to attend a Major, the 27-year old does not have any regrets.

XigN stated that the moves comes at a time when he was 'starting to understand CS2 more' and there was an uptick in his performance. XigN boasts of a rating of 1.09 over the course of the last 12 months, but it improved in the last six months, moving to a healthier 1.24.

XigN led Alter Ego to the Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR, beating Indian team Gods Reign in the Asia RMR Closed Qualifier final but Alter Ego had a rough run at the RMR, finishing 7-8th, going down to The MongolZ and Lynn Vision.

One of the most known names in the Asian Counter-Strike scene, XigN started his career in Counter-Strike back in 2015 with m0nster before moving to MVP (Project and PK) before a brief period during the Covid-19 pandemic with BTRG. He then spent a year with NG before having a lengthy three-year stint with NKT prior to joining Alter Ego in July 2024.
