THE MONGOLZ CREATE COUNTER-STRIKE HISTORY; LOCKS IN MAJOR PLAYOFFS SPOT

The MongolZ become first Asian team in a CS Major Playoffs

Asian powerhouses The MongolZ created history as they became the first team from Asia to book their spot in the Playoffs stage of a Major. The MongolZ moved into the Playoffs of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 with a 3-0 record through the Elimination Stage and reverse swept HEROIC in their 2-0 bracket game to move ahead.

The action kicked off on The MongolZ's pick on Mirage and even though they lost the opening pistol, a quick A hit saw them turn around a 3v5 on the force buy. The MongolZ went on a four-round streak before degster with a single Scout and four pistols saw HEROIC get back on the board and they quickly went on to tie up the score. HEROIC ended the half with seven in a row to take a four round lead with degster stepping up and a triple from HEROIC's AWPer saw them lock in both pistols.

HEROIC ran to a 11-4 lead before a couple of impactful rounds from bLitz and a Techno4k smoke ninja saw The MongolZ bring it to a three-round game. Eight though was all The MongolZ managed as HEROIC closed it at 13-8.

The MongolZ kicked off HEROIC's pick of Anubis with finally taking a pistol in the series and ran away to a 6-0 lead on their T side. The MongolZ went on to take a six round lead at the end of the opening half and locked in both pistols on Anubis to further extend their lead. While HEROIC fought back with a couple of rounds on their T side, and it was degster and NertZ converting a 2v4 in the final round of regulation to push the map to overtime, pulling things back from 3-11.

A back and forth affair saw neither team give each other an inch and it was Senzu and 910's 32 and 30 kills each to see The MongolZ home at 19-17 with mzinho coming in with big impact late on in the map as well.

The decider on Ancient saw The MongolZ take the early advantage on the T side, going 5-0 up. A steal on the A site with a mixed buy and a Senzu 1v2 on the B site made sure The MongolZ won out the opening half at 8-4. A near-flawless CT half from The MongolZ close out Ancient at 13-6 as they reverse swept the series 2-1 to move into the Playoffs.

The MongolZ becomes the first-ever team from Asia in Counter-Strike history to make the Playoffs of a Major and the second team to make the Playoffs in Shanghai after Vitality. The Mongolian squad moves into the Playoffs stage with a stunning 3-0 record in the Elimination Stage.
