The MongolZ end their Shanghai Major run in the quarter-final
The playoffs of the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major kicked off with the first quarter-final featuring The MongolZ and MOUZ. and it was heartbreak for the only remaining Asian team at Asia's first Counter-Strike Major as The MongolZ went down fighting to MOUZ to end their Cinderella run at the Top 8.
The first map took us to Ancient, picked by The MongolZ who started on the T-side. The MongolZ lost three of their players early in the pistol round towards A, a quick couple of headshots from 910 and Senzu gave The MongolZ enough space to bolt A with the C4 through CT. Once they got the C4 down, 910 finished the job with the final two frags, putting up a Glock 4k in the pistol round.

The MongolZ continued to lose players early regularly but managed to brute force their way to round wins and one such win came in the seventh round, where mzinho stood tall, taking down three players in a 1v3, to get The MongolZ to 6-1. MOUZ managed to put up a couple of rounds late in the half before The MongolZ took a 9-3 half.
Switching over, it was MOUZ who steamrolled into sites and secured initial rounds but The MongolZ quickly recovered to reach match point at 12-7. siuhy called a fantastic half for MOUZ thereafter as The MongolZ were caught off guard round after round. Brollan found his element with consistent multi-frag rounds as MOUZ tied up the score at 12-12.
After conceding the first overtime round, The MongolZ took a lead before switching to the T-side where they overthought rounds, allowing MOUZ to wrap around and a three man smoke push in at 14-15, was the final nail in the coffin, as siuhy sprayed everyone down as The MongolZ conceded Ancient 16-14 after fumbling a five round buffer in regulation.
Going into Nuke, The MongolZ started on the CT-side. MOUZ tried to hit the lower site with four players but a solid hold from bLitz and mzinho fetched them the pistol round. Six rounds in, MOUZ put up their first round on Nuke, catching the CTs getting too comfortable in uncharted waters.

MOUZ managed to get the AWP off of 910's hands only for him to immediately go a for a glass canon AWP, putting up a couple of crucial frags to net The MongolZ their seventh CT round. MOUZ reclaimed momentum towards the backend of the half, splitting a 7-5 half with The MongolZ still in the lead.
xertioN picked up the pace in the second half, as MOUZ stole the lead 7-8. The MongolZ stormed in the lower site, taking down torzsi's point blank AWP but miss out on the round. A slow approach followed by a burst into saw 910 trading out the last frag keeping The MongolZ alive in the game.
The MongolZ could not trade frags in their favor in the lower site in round 21, as MOUZ put up map and series point at 12-9, putting The MongolZ on the brink of elimination. MOUZ were always a step ahead of The MongolZ on Nuke, skipping past the finish line 13-9, putting an end to what has been an impressive showing by The MongolZ throughout the Major.
After taking down the likes of G2, MOUZ and HEROIC in the Elimination Stage, The MongolZ entered the playoffs with 3-0 records in the Opening and Elimination stages, also becoming the first ever Asian team to make it to the playoffs of a Counter-Strike Major.
