Gods Reign narrowly miss out on opening game win at MESA Asian Masters closed qualifier
Gods Reign's first game at the MESA Asian Masters 2025's closed qualifier saw them take on Mongolian side NomadS and Bhavi's boys went down fighting, almost making the reverse sweep stick. Both teams received direct invites to the closed qualifier based on their VRS placements.
The series started on Mirage where a Glock-4K from HenX fetched NomadS the T-side pistol round but a Famas-3K from Gods Reign's IGL Bhavi levelled the score at 2-2. Back to back multi-frag rounds from Paranormal pushed NomadS to an 8-4 advantage on the T-side. A pistol round win and a 4K from CRYTICAL in the anti-eco further strengthened NomadS' grip on Mirage. The Indian side managed to secure a couple of rounds on the T-side before conceding the map 6-13.
R2B2 who had put up somewhat of a subpar performance by his standards on Mirage, came alive on Train, starting the map with a Glock ace in the pistol round which fueled Gods Reign to a 4-1 lead on the T-side. Paranormal mowed down the Ts with the silenced M4, securing a 4K, setting up NomadS to recover and salvage a 6-6 half.
R2B2's pistol dominance continued as his Five-Seven 4K stole the anti-eco after Gods Reign conceded the pistol round. The Mongolian side never really recovered as Gods Reign stampeded their way to a 13-9 win on Train, levelling the series at 1-1.

The decider took us to Ancient and a CRYTICAL 4K set the tone for a 3-0 start on the T-side for NomadS but Gods Reign recovered quickly to bounce back and put up seven rounds on the CT-side, gaining a slight advantage before switching over. A five round-streak from NomadS in the beginning of the second half meant that Gods Reign secured their first T-side round after NomadS touched double-digits.
Despite Bhavi's best efforts in round 21, putting up four frags with the silenced M4, Paranormal came out on top in a crucial 1v1, fetching NomadS the match point at 12-9. Consecutive multi-frag rounds from Ph1NNN and a quad-kill at 11-12, saw Gods Reign level at score at 12-12 to push things into overtime.
The Indian side struggled in overtime, as NomadS closed out Ancient 16-13, booking their upper-bracket semi-final game against HOTU. Gods Reign will now head down to the lower-bracket where they will face ATOX to keep themselves afloat in the Closed Qualifier.
