Huge changes in rankings after CS:GO's last Major

FURIA, ENCE vacate top 10 after BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023

GamerLegion, Apeks and Monte fly into top 10 after lights-out performances at the last ever CS:GO Major

BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 marked the end of an era for CS:GO Majors, and it was a tournament filled with excitement, upsets, and remarkable achievements. The French team, Vitality, emerged victorious with their superstar ZywOo receiving the tournament MVP award, solidifying his position as one of the game's top AWPers. As the dust settled, the HLTV team rankings underwent significant changes, reflecting the outcomes of this thrilling event.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the Blast Paris Major 2023 was the presence of several underdog teams in the Playoffs. Monte, Apeks, and GamerLegion defied expectations, securing coveted spots in the Playoffs stage. GamerLegion, in particular, surpassed all predictions by advancing all the way to the Grand Finals, showcasing their prowess and determination.

Vitality held on to their #1 spot in the HLTV team rankings update made on May 22, 2023. Their flawless Major run in 2023, combined with their impressive showings in the RMR and IEM Rio, positioned them head and shoulders above the competition. With a staggering 1000 points, they established a substantial lead over the Danish team, Heroic, who secured the second spot with 747 points, trailing Vitality by 253 points. The rest of the top six teams remained consistent, with FaZe in third place followed by Natus Vincere, Cloud9 and G2.

However, one of the most remarkable transformations occurred within the Top 10, where GamerLegion made an extraordinary leap of 15 places, now occupying the #7 position. Prior to the Major, GamerLegion were not even ranked in the top 30, making their ascent all the more impressive. Their journey to the grand finals served as the primary catalyst for this remarkable rise. Furthermore, iM came tantalizingly close to receiving the tournament MVP, falling short by a mere 0.04 points.

Further down the rankings, Monte and Apeks achieved their all-time peak rankings, securing the #10 and #9 spots respectively. Apeks delivered a stunning performance against Liquid in the quarter-finals, toppling a team that had previously dominated the Legends Stage with a 3-1 run. Meanwhile, Monte orchestrated one of the biggest upsets of the Major by dominantly defeating Navi and currently lie in the tenth spot. While the likes of Apeks and Monte break into the top 10, the more renowned names such as ENCE and FURIA have suffered massively as both teams drop three places each to see themselves out of the top 10 rankings. British team Into the Breach also enjoyed a stellar Playoffs run at the Major and are up 13 places to #15.

On the other end of the spectrum, MOUZ found themselves at #18, their lowest ranking in over a year. Meanwhile, Astralis hit rock-bottom, plummeting to #25, their worst-ever ranking, signaling a period of struggle for the once-dominant Danish squad.
