Shanghai Major breaks a record already
Seraph, a Chinese commentator in attendance for the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 has revealed an interesting statistic regarding the upcoming CS2 Major. According to him, a total of 8,643 teams have registered for the Open Qualifiers, setting a new record for Majors. It means that over 40,000 players worldwide have registered for a chance to participate in the upcoming Major.
In the Asia-Pacific region alone, only eight teams will advance to the RMR from various qualifiers, including the Oceanic, Chinese, East Asian, Southeast Asian, and Middle Eastern Qualifiers. The Middle Eastern Qualifier is further divided into the Levantine & North African, South African Open, and Arabian Open Qualifiers. The top two teams from the Asia-Pacific RMR will then proceed to Shanghai to compete in the Major.
