Shanghai Major: Oceanic Open Qualifier day 1 recap

A look back at the quarter-finalists' journey

The Oceanic Open Qualifier for the upcoming RMR leading up to the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major kicked off today. The opening round (Ro64) was quite uneventful with 42 teams confirming their slots out of 49 registered teams, resulting in 22 teams advancing to the next round, uncontested. Eight teams have locked in their qualification stage appearance and here's a look at how they got there.

The Art of War

The Ro32 began with DXA Esports getting a free pass into the next round, where they met The Art of War, who had stomped star casino enjoyers 13-0, to book their Ro16 slot. Even with Roflko in their arsenal, DXA Esports could at best put up a decent fight against The Art of War, as BaN4na stepped up with 19 frags at an ADR of 108 to take the team into the next round with a 13-6 win.

With just two players from Above The Restt crossing double figures, the team managed to secure just a couple rounds in the entirety of their showing against TALON, as the latter rolled into the qualification round with a 13-2 win. mhL's 17 frags and 120 ADR put TALON in the driver's seat.

The bo1 took us to Anubis where vision and keenx took full advantage of the map's T-sidedness.

Dropping 19 frags and 17 frags each, keenx and vision propelled SemperFedilis into the next round, crashing Sun Run out of the qualifier with a dominant 13-2. SemperFedilis will take on TALON in the Ro8.

Vantage Esports

Vantage Esports took on Dan Company in their Ro16 match up. Dan Company who got a bye in the first round, struggled in the Ro32 against VizardCS but managed to squeeze out a 13-11 win. In their Ro16 game against Vantage Esports, things went far from ideal.

Dan Company had no answers to N1ghtraid and aleccx's aggression on the T-side of Ancient. Consistent entries put Dan Company at number disadvantages early in the round for the entirety of the game as Vantage Esports picked up a quick 13-1 win.
