BLAST announces updates to 2025 circuit

BLAST has scrapped its old tournament system and is launching a new circuit for 2025. This revamped format will feature two seasons, each consisting of four tournaments, with a standalone winner for each event.

The four tournaments will be named Bounty, Open, Rising, and Rivals. The prize money will be distributed in two kinds - A participation fee amounting to $4m for 2025, and Frequent Flyer Programme amounting to a minimum of $2m, taking the combined total to $6m.

BLAST BOUNTY

In BLAST Bounty, lower-seeded teams get the chance to challenge higher-seeded opponents in a 'bounty hunting' setup. If they win, they’ll secure 50% as a guaranteed payout, with the other 50% added to their bounty. The Bounty will feature a total participation fee distribution of $1.3m across two editions, with the top 8 securing $40k each, 9th-16th getting $26,250 each, and the remaining teams will get $7,500 each.

BLAST OPEN

The BLAST Open is set to be BLAST's biggest tournament for the season, hosted across two iconic venues: MEO Arena in Lisbon and OVO Wembley Arena in London. Of the 12 teams competing, only 6 will advance to the playoffs. The total participation money for Open will be slightly higher than Bounty, totaling to $1.4m. As part ofFirst 12 teams will win $45k each, while $10k will be handed out to the top 4 ranked teams in Rising.

BLAST RISING

BLAST Rising, a wildcard tournament in accordance with Valve's rules, will kick off with Open and Closed Qualifiers. Four teams from the Open Qualifiers will advance to the Closed stage, where they'll join invited teams ranked 5th to 16th in their region. The online tournament will take place across four regions, four times, with 4 additional invites for teams that don’t qualify directly for the Open.

BLAST RIVALS

A total of eight teams will be battling it out in an all-important LAN tournament, 4 invited through the VRS and the remaining 4 from the four regions : North America, Asia, South America, and Europe. The location of the LAN event will be announced in the near future. A sum of $81,250 will be given to each one of the eight participating teams.
