Overtimes galore as True Rippers pip Carnival Gaming for AMD GameOn 2024 title
It was True Rippers picking up the AMD GameOn 2024 title as they took down Carnival Gaming 3-1 in the BO5 LAN final which saw DEFAULTER pick up his second CS2 LAN trophy, after having won the DreamHack Hyderabad Invitational 2023, in Hyderabad itself, where the AMD GameOn 2024 event took place as well. The AMD GameOn 2024 Grand Final, which saw four maps take place, had three overtimes as it was a close fought encounter between the teams with neither team willing to go down easily.
The Grand Final kicked off on True Rippers' pick of Inferno which individual heroics on both sides keep the scores close with Carnival Gaming taking a two-round lead at 7-5. Another tight half saw True Rippers hold on against two map points to push the map to overtime where it was reV3nnnn's AWP finally finding some impact on the B site, which saw them close things out at 16-14 despite hattygOD going above and beyond for Carnival Gaming, topping the server with 31 kills.
Carnival Gaming started Ancient with eight-consecutive rounds on their defensive half before True Rippers ended the half with four of their own. A strong CT half from DEFAULTER's squad saw the second map pushed to overtime as well and it was Carnival Gaming hanging on for 16-13 win. Overtimes continuted as Anubis went the distance as well following back-and-forth affairs saw True Rippers hang on for another 16-13 win with reV3nnnnn and Mcg!LLzZz stepping up for True Rippers.
reV3nnnn, who had warmed up by the fourth map, on Mirage, was the one leading the charge for True Rippers, keeping them in the game as it was once again a tied half to kick off things. Yet another overtime was on the cards as True Rippers and Carnival Gaming both couldn't capitalise on crucial clutch round and low buy round wins but it was True Rippers hanging on for a 13-11 win with DiceDealer putting in major impact in the final two rounds of regulation.
The win sees True Rippers pick up their first LAN trophy of 2024 and takes home a prize money of $2300 while Carnival Gaming takes home $1200.
