Paris Major 2023 Legends Stage: Day 2 recap
The second day of the Legends Stage is over and we have a couple of teams confirmed for the Champions Stage and we also had to bid goodbye to two teams.
If you missed the day's action, we have a quick recap.
Qualification:
Vitality were the first team to qualify for the Champions Stage after they went 3-0 in the Legends Stage, taking down Monte to qualify. Vitality were unstoppable on Anubis and even though Monte tried to take it to a third map through their valiant fight on Nuke, Vitality held on to close out the series in two maps. It was a complete team performance from Vitality that saw them qualify for the Champions Stage and with home hero ZywOo eager to get his hands on his first Major trophy, all eyes will be on the Vitality talisman. Monte now have two more chances to make it to the playoffs.
The second team to qualify for the Champions Stage was Heroic as the Danes took down a resurgent Liquid to book their playoffs spot. An 11-4 start on Inferno helped Heroic take the opening map before Liquid bounced back to win 16-11 on Mirage. Heroic eventually sealed the series on Ancient and Danes, who are one of the tournament favourites, headed to the Champions Stage going 3-0. Liquid, though, aren't out of it yet and have a couple of chances to make it to the playoffs.
Fighting on:
Natus Vincere kicked off the day with a comfortable 16-9 win on Overpass which saw s1mple step up for Navi as the Ukrainian team is now one win away from the Champions Stage. For Aleksib and his men, they now drop into the 1-2 bracket. GamerLegion put fnatic in the 1-2 bracket after taking them down 16-11 on Overpass and siuhy led from the front to put his team one win away from the playoffs.
Continuing on from their stunning win against FaZe, Into the Breach beat ENCE 16-7 on Vertigo and the British team are on the cusp of making it to the Champions Stage as ENCE's chances hang by a thread after dropping to the 1-2 bracket. Apeks also moved into the 2-1 bracket after they beat Bad News Eagles 16-6 on Ancient.
Eliminated:
FaZe shut down 9INE as they kept themselves alive but it meant, it came at the expense of the Poles, who have been eliminated. The final game of the day saw G2 and FURIA battle it out to stay in the competition and it was HooXi and his men who got the better of the Brazilians. G2 dismantled FURIA 16-8 on Inferno and 16-7 on Mirage to send the Brazilians home without having won a single map in the tournament.
