BIG heartbreak for Astralis at home

Danes go down 1-2 to BIG

BIG handed Astralis a beating at home as the Danes once again failed to close out the series after taking the opening map. The English-speaking BIG roster stunned the favourites Astralis 2-1 in the Group B lower bracket finals at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2023.

The opening map was BIG's pick of Anubis with the Danes starting on the defensive half and took the opening pistol but BIG responded with a force buy as s1n and tabseN came in with a double each but Astralis replied with their own upgraded pistols and device and Staehr quads saw them make it three in a row. It was seven straight rounds from the Danes to win out the half before BIG put up their second round in round ten thanks to a double mantuu opener. While BIG managed to pull back a couple of rounds towards the end, Astralis ended their defensive half with a 9-6 lead with tabseN ending the first half with a 1v2.

18 kills, and ADR of 94 and a 1.51 rating meant b0RUP was a force to be reckoned with on Anubis.

Astralis' new boys, Staehr and b0rup gave the Danes the second pistol as they both came in with a full-house and a device double made sure Astralis saw off BIG's upgraded pistol buy. It was a near perfect T half from the Danes as they dropped only two rounds to close out the map at 16-8 with Staehr, Buzz, device and b0RUP all stepping up for the Danes.

The second map was Astralis' pick of Ancient with the German starting on the defensive side. blameF's 1v2 clutch gave Astralis the pistol and a device quad and double in consecutive rounds saw them go 3-0 up. mantuu won out a 1v1 against blameF to give BIG their first round on the back of upgraded pistols and one hero M4A1-s. mantuu's quad and a Krimbo double saw BIG put up two in a row to close the score at 6-4. Impactful rounds from the man at the helm of BIG, tabseN saw BIG end the first half with a lead at 8-7.

An impactful performance from prosus saw BIG stay in the series

BIG picked up the second pistol with prosus and s1n coming in with an impactful round and BIG went nine in a row to secure map point as it was another impactful round from mantuu. Two multi-frag rounds from b0RUP saw Astralis put up back-to-back defensive rounds but it was BIG who closed out the map at 16-10.

b0RUP's 1v2 gave Astralis the opening pistol on Overpass, as the Danes started on the CT side. BIG responded with a force buy and converted against the force buy and eco to go 3-1 up. BIG went 5-1 up before Astralis got their second round and a device triple from Banana gave Astralis back-to-back rounds. It was another device multi-kill round, a quad this time from bathroom that saw Astralis tie up the game at 5-5. A Krimbo triple opener on the B site saw BIG end the first half at 8-7.

The difference maker on Overpass, Krimbo was crucial for BIG

BIG picked up their CT pistol but Astralis replied with the force buy. The rounds kept trading as the Germans answered with their own force buy to put up double digits. Two multi-kill openers from Buzz saw Astralis put up 10 to bring it to a three-round game at 13-10. A Krimbo double on the B site saw BIG secure map and series point at 15-13 but a blameF triple saw Astralis secure 14 and make sure the map was going all 30 rounds. Krimbo closed out the map and series for BIG as he ended the map on top of the scoreboard with 27 kills.
