Skyesports Championship 2024 Semi-final and Grand Final: Preview

One final day of action

After four days of action in the Skyesports Championship 2024 tournament, we have reached the final day as the final four teams battle it out for the $300,000 prize pool. The final day will see the two semi-finals and the Grand Final take place at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai.

Ahead of the action today, here's a look at the day's games.

The MongolZ vs Eternal Fire - 13:00 IST

The first semi-final will see two tournament favourites, The MongolZ take on Eternal Fire with the Turkish team being the only unbeaten team in the event till now. Apart from the final group game against 3DMAX, Eternal Fire have not let any of their opponents till now hit double digit rounds as MAJ3R and co. have been putting up dominant performances. 3DMAX has been the only team to push Eternal Fire to the limit and it was a strong show of resilience from the Turkish squad that got them over the line in overtime.

Their opponents, The MongolZ, unlike Eternal Fire, have had a mixed tournament. They were almost shocked by True Rippers in the opening game and suffered losses to BLEED and PARIVISION. The MongolZ eventually bounced back to end the Group Stages strongly against Aurora and made light work of AMKAL in the quarter-final.

Two of the strongest teams in the tournament take on each other in the semi-final in what promises to be a blockbuster encounter. Eternal Fire's current form gives them the edge but The MongolZ are a different team in a BO3 series compared to BO1s encounter and should not be counted out. Eternal Fire have woxic and XANTARES who are two of the top rated players in the event with The MongolZ's captain bLitz right behind them.

Aurora vs 3DMAX - 17:00 IST

The second semi-final will see Aurora go up against 3DMAX with Aurora looking to make it back-to-back-to-back Skyesports titles. The Russian team has already won the Skyesports Grand Slam 2024 and the Skyesports Masters 2024 and would be looking to add another Indian LAN title in the kitty.

Aurora had a strong run in the group stages, easing past almost all of their opponents excepts ENCE, who pushed them to overtime and The MongolZ, who are the only team to have beaten them in the event till now. Aurora have had their captain Norwi led from the front and is one of the highest rated players in the event and will play a crucial role once again for the Russian team.

On the other side, we have 3DMAX, who made it to India through the European Closed Qualifiers, unlike the other semi-finalists who were invited (Aurora got direct entry for winning Skyesports Masters 2024). The French team have impressed everyone and also has picked up the only 13-0 of the event, when the hammered Indian organisation Revenant. 3DMAX, should've closed out their final group stage against Eternal Fire and that overtime loss is their only loss in the event. They comprehensively outplayed ENCE in the quarter-final and like Aurora, 3DMAX also have their captain leading from the front with Maka being their highest rated player and the fifth highest rated player in the event behind Norwi.

Two evenly matched teams, the second semi-final promises to be a close encounter which might go all the way with little to differentiate between the teams.
